Publisher Description
An interactive multimedia tutorial the CD-ROM is divided into modules which correlate to various chapters based on the 21st edition of the classic Manual of Mineralogy. Formatted for Macintosh and PCs, this graphically-based
software covers all 32 crystal classes and important minerals from thirty major rock-forming mineral groups. 3D models and animations permit users to view crystal symmetries, internal orders and molecular structures and can be manually rotated around multidimensional axes. Formula substitutions allow users to perform atomic substitutions within crystal structure formulas and view graphics of resulting minerals. Hyperlinks between textual terms and graphics/video clips provide rapid connections between diverse media and content.

Reader ReviewsOi, how much more convoluted can a text get? With every edition, this text gets less organized. Or that is at least true for the last 3 editions, anyways ... Eg. In how many chapters can the topic of "symmetry" be covered? Keeping it to 1 would be much easier to digest, thankyou. The text is written in old-school rambly style... sure, it covers all topics, but it is hard to learn from (and in my experience, even harder to teach from). There are better options out there. Nesse "Intro to Mineralogy" text.
