About The Author
H. Wayne House (Th.D., Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; J.D., Regent University School of Law) is Distinguished Research Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, and Professor of Law, Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California. Dr. House serves on the board of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. He is author or editor of more than seventy journal and magazine publications, and a contributor to several books, dictionaries and encyclopedias. He is also the author of more than twenty books, including The Christian and American Law and Israel: The Land and the People. He has been married to Leta Frances McConnell for forty years, has two grown children, and five grandchildren. He enjoys playing with his grandchildren, reading, and traveling to ancient lands.
Phillip Johnson was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, and graduated from
Harvard and the University of Chicago Law School. He joined the faculty of the Boalt School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley in 1967 and has been a professor emeritus since 2000. His book Darwin on Trial began his second career as one of the foremost critics of Darwin's theory of evolution and its wider sociological and cultural implications.
Michael J. Behe is professor of
Biochemistry at Lehigh University. In his career he has authored more than forty technical papers and one book, Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution.
Eddie N. Colanter is director of bioethics and culture at the Newport Institute for Ethics, Law, and Public Policy. He is visiting lecturer of apologetics and bioethics at Faith Evangelical Seminary, and is cofounder of the Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness (IDEA) Center.
Logan Paul Gage is a policy analyst with Discovery Institute, working out of the Washington, D.C., office, serving as a liaison to policy makers on Darwinism and Intelligent Design.
Casey Luskin cofounded the Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness (IDEA) Center, a nonprofit organization helping students start "IDEA Clubs" on university and high school campuses. Luskin is now an attorney working in public policy at the Discovery Institute in Seattle, Washington.
J. P. Moreland (Ph.D., University of Southern California) is distinguished professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, La Mirada, California. He has authored, edited, or contributed to thirty books, including Does God Exist?; Philosophy of Religion: Selected Readings; Naturalism: A Critical Analysis; Universals; and Philosophy of Religion: A Reader and Guide.
Jay W. Richards is research fellow and director of Acton Media at the Acton Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and theology (with honors) from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was formerly a teaching fellow. His most recent books include The Untamed God: A Philosophical Exploration of Divine Perfection, Immutability and Simplicity; and The Privileged Planet: How Our Place in the Cosmos Is Designed for Discovery, with astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez.
Reader ReviewsI found this book to be a clear and helpful presentation of the evidence for the theory of Intelligent Design, and the nature of science. Unlike the emotional, and often irrational, reviews by some found on this page, that resemble scientism rather than science, Intelligent Design 101 argues that the universe is best explained by reference to some type of designer. The authors do not identify the designer, though I would suspect that most believe in the God of Christianity; nonetheless the argument does not rest on belief in the Christian God, but could be one accepted in different religions, and even in Greek philosophy. I recommend this book as a thoughtful introduction to the scientific, philosophical and legal aspects of the current debate on intelligent design of the universe versus the belief that something may arise from nothing.
