Reader ReviewsApproximately twenty years ago, I needed to learn a great deal of fundamental Earth sciences in a hurry in order to prepare for an exam. My only experience in the field until then was the little that I had been exposed to in high school. The exam was a College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam in the natural sciences. I read this book and did many of the problems and was able to pass the exam with points to spare. I found this outline to be brief yet complete. The problems were an accurate reflection of the material and the combination of the two were an excellent way to learn the material in a hurry. The format is the standard one for the Schaum's outline series. There are a few pages of explanation, a few pages of problems where the solution immediately follows and then a section of supplementary problems. Solutions to all the problems are included. This book was one of the best educational investments that I have ever made. In combination with a few other items in the Schaum's series, I was able to pass a CLEP examination and get three hours of college credit.
