Grade 3-6-These three series entries explore their specific subjects, emphasizing technological and societal aspects as well as historical connections, in an appealing format. The books feature double-page topic treatments, each with numerous illustrations that are clearly labeled and accompanied by extensive captions. Portraits of scientists and biographical notes on their contributions to their fields are included. Electronics describes the changes in machines from pre-electric times to the modern world of computers with portable satellite terminals, facsimiles, VCR remote controls, command and communication centers on aircraft carriers, and other technological innovations. Explanations of the scientific principles that underlie these advances are also offered. Human Body serves as an interesting overview of the fields of anatomy and physiology as well as a visual guide to the structure and physiology of the body. The full-color photographs of well-crafted museum models are outstanding. Following a definition of Ecology, this volume is packed with information about the interrelationships of living things, and between them and their environment, all of which is well organized and presented in an understandable manner. All are great introductions to the areas of science they explore; their striking visuals make them particularly attractive.

Reader ReviewsI love this whole line of DK Eyewitness books. This one on Ecology is no exception. I've used this book as a great addition to our Science studies. It also makes an excellent source just to browse during free reading because the pictures and the short text boxes are fairly engaging.
